The Meta and AI Lab was established at the beginning of 2023 in cooperation with the HIGHEST innovation and start-up center.

We want to offer students, as well as business and politics, a space to try out and get excited about the possibilities of the virtual world.

With the development of advanced technologies, virtual worlds aim to merge the physical world with virtual space to enable socialization in various contexts ranging from games to work scenarios.

Visitors can explore a selection of modern technology in the Meta and AI Labs. The HTC Vive Pro 2 headset allows the immersive power of VR to be unleashed with laser-accurate, room-filling tracking and top-level graphics. In addition, the Meta and AI Lab features mixed reality headsets, as opposed to VR-only headsets and AR-only headsets. Using the Meta Quest Pro headset, the physical environment can either be completely blanked out and replaced with a digital environment (virtual reality) or displayed in the headset through a digital reconstruction and then augmented with digital elements (augmented reality).

To enable movement and interaction with virtual reality, MetaLab offers a KAT Walk Mini. The omnidirectional VR treadmill enables 360 degrees of human movement with a variety of vertical and horizontal actions such as walking, running, jumping or bending. The device allows an infinite range of motion in VR in a minimal physical space.

Using the technology of MetaLab, everyday office life can be experienced in a new way, by organizing meetings in virtual spaces. The perceptual dimension created by virtual reality also enables companies to find new ways in marketing communications to promote their goods and services. Further application scenarios include medicine, for example. Therefore, doctor's visits will also be simulated with the use of VR technology in the MetaLab in the future.

You are invited not only to try out the possibilities of the virtual world, but also to cross the boundaries of reality and create exciting digital experiences yourself.
